After being back in LA for a month of January, I start to wonder if I am missing anything anywhere at all. As rumour has it – the Murder has already happened on the Orient Express. And why delay anyway? So I naturally get on the nearest plane and fly East, Far East. Hello Japan! I find myself at the Park Hyatt, where Sofia Coppola filmed her famous “Lost in Translation” – the cult movie about all things Japanese via Americans experiecing Japan for the first time. And let me tell you – Tokyo is magical, in the” Bladerunner “kind of way, where the clean metropolis is super friendly and full of fantastic many things. Kyoto is the older more serene sister of Tokyo, with ancient temples and slower pace of life. The Winter there is good for skiing, though not as cold as NY but still pretty, and the mountain Fiji not so distant after all. I might be back for the cherry blossoms and why not! ARIGATŌGOZAIMASU 🙂
It’s Christmas time everyone, and the New Year around the corner! Have you been naughty or nice, do you like sugar or spice? All of the above for me! While Santa is busy with his annual reviews and the verdict is not out yet, I wait for no-one and I hop on that NY jet to get closer to Santa’s arctic headquarters with a layover in LA for some defrosting. First to Germany, Munich to hit some Xmas markets and the high fashion street for shopping, and then to Spain, Barcelona to eat tapas and learn some flamenco while watching Carmen at the BCN opera house! Still pondering on what gifts the year ahead has in store but still not done with 2017… Shall we find out? Here we go…
“I know that I have died before – once in November.” This quote is very apropos as the year 2017 is winding down, and we just passed the month of the Dead (October aka Halloween ) into the month of November aka “Giving Thanks” and heading into December, the month of Dying and being Born again. I am, after all, in the business of Resurrection. As I take this month to self-reflect over the past events and things yet to come, I am amazed at all of it – my work, my family, my old and new friends, my fantasies and manifestations. Please enjoy some glimpses into my wonderland! See ya around the bend…
When you need a change of pace and scenery and have no particular destination in mind – wake up in Paris! It’s the best city to get lost in, time and again, at least for me and my bestie Lily. We rendezvoused on the whim from both coasts – she from LA and me from NY. We travel like the adventure monkeys we are, even off the fashion week schedule. We missed NY FW and left Paris before all the crazy fashionistas flooded it again; but boy – did we have fun! Sleepless nights and busy days, and we couldn’t get out of Paris – the city of Lights, the city of Love. We’ll save Spain for another time. Anyway, enjoy the conundrum with us and have a laugh! Merci and J’aitme ! 🙂
Life is about celebration and proclamation of love, bouts of laughter, endless dancing and kissing under the stars. And if it is my brother’s wedding – even better, taking me back to my Armenian roots and home in Los Angeles for a glorious week in July. Of course, it was superb and beyond words and excitement I can possibly express. I had the best time with my family and friends, staying at Chateau Marmont and dancing till morning at the wedding with my “peeps!” Let us rejoice and be merry, blithe and full of light and life! Have fun and dance dance dance! Smile more, laugh harder and love each other! Love you all!
So I flew to Europe end of June sorta last minute – me from NY and my bestie Lily from LA – and so followed our crazy seven day swirl tasmanian sweep through 7 countries… or so I recall. We rendezvoused in Dusseldorf, Germany, drove our vintage 1975 convertible Mercedes Benz to Paris the next morning, passing through Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France. After hanging out with our friends in Paris for a day, driving that baby back early next morning back to Germany, so we could catch our plane to Palermo, Sicily mid day for our little place in the sun for a day and a half; then flying back to Dusseldorf for another day in the country with the castles in the sky. Afterwards, when our feet could not move on their own and our eyes could not stay open after sleepless days and nights, we returned to our respective cities. Did I thoroughly confuse and reprogram you yet? Check it out – and believe it when I say that the world is my oyster! Safe travels… Until then…
“Oh beautiful, for spacious skies” – decided to explore what’s right in front of my eyes – America, America – my land is your land. Having lived in the United States most of my life, I still get to discover new corners of this country that are as grand and lovely as any other part of the world. Some of my travels take me to California, Texas, Puerto Rico to name a few, even if just for a few days. The paradigm shift allows me to get a fresh appreciation for the beauty and the grandeur of my own homeland. I hope you do too! Enjoy:)
Travel is my meditation and the best way to change paradigms of perception and reality. I’m all for a quick getaway or two, if only for a day. Everything is close to your fingertips if you are on the east coast like NY – a day in Bermuda, a day in Savannah, a few days in LA or Puerto Rico, a week in Europe and beyond. Here are some snapshots from my trips around the bend, here and there and everywhere! Enjoy:)
Upon my recent visit to LA – I had a privilege to work on the photo fashion shoot with my great friend Ben Duggan, a very talented model Kenze and hair and makeup specialist Heather Rae. The Story was published by the Damaged/Goods magazine and the rest is history. Please check it out! We are all proud of our baby!

With another Fashion Week season behind us, I find it fascinating that fashion and style can be mutually exclusive.Trends might dictate the market and influence the buyers, but style can’t be bought or even taught, sort of like love. And then there are those very few rare individuals and trendsetters, visionaries if you will, who possess that certain intangible something, the priceless quality to inspire without trying. In my aspirational moments of working with very talented friends and professionals in fashion and art, I feel that sense of freedom and direction in the collective love of what we do – our artistic passion. Here are some visuals from last fashion week and the styling projects that I had the privilege to work on. Viewers can draw their own parallels. 🙂
